M249 | Hypnosis is a Mil-Spec Grade heavy weapon skin from the Gallery Case. The “Hypnosis” finish is applied to the M249. Each unboxing requires the case plus a $2.49 key.

The M249 at $5,200 with its 100-round magazine is the most expensive non-sniper weapon in CS2. It's almost never purchased in competitive play — buying an M249 is either a flex on a dominant economy or a meme.

M249 | Hypnosis has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00 and is available in 5 wear conditions. In CS2, the float value is permanent — set at drop time and unchangeable. It controls how scratched or clean a skin looks within its wear tier. Extreme floats carry significant premiums: 0.00x copies are prized for their clean look, while 0.999x Battle-Scarred copies like the iconic AWP Asiimov "Blackiimov" are collector's items. Some skins are float-capped and cannot exist in certain wear conditions.

A StatTrak version of this skin is available. StatTrak technology uses an LED counter built into the weapon model that tracks confirmed kills in official matches. StatTrak skins have roughly a 10% chance to drop from each case opening and typically command higher prices than their normal counterparts. Note that the kill counter resets to zero when the skin is traded between players.

As a Mil-Spec Grade item, M249 | Hypnosis has a 11.4171% chance per opening (1 in 9). Rarity in CS2 directly affects both supply and price. Higher-rarity skins drop less often, which keeps their market value elevated relative to common drops from the same case.
